Javier Sanchez participates in Red Seguridad's Alerta Cyber Podcast

Javier Sánchez, CEO of Nologin, was one of the experts invited to episode 9 of the Alerta Cyber podcast, produced by Red Seguridad magazine. Under the title “Why is Spain one of the countries that receives the most cyberattacks?”, this episode brings together leading professionals from the sector to reflect on the context of cybersecurity in the protection of the country.

During his speech, Javier Sanchez directly addressed the causes that, from his experience at Nologin, explain why Spain has become a priority target for cybercriminals:

"Cybersecurity has become a critical priority for Spain and we believe this is no coincidence. Our country is experiencing a very high volume of cybersecurity incidents."

According to Sanchez, there are two main reasons for this situation:

"The first would be our economic weight. Spain is the fourth largest economy in the Eurozone and globally we will be around level 15 or 16. This makes Spain an attractive target for cybercriminals because they will always prioritize attacking countries where they can obtain greater financial benefits. The more value is moved digitally, the more interest it generates for the attackers.".

He further supported this claim with data observed from the SOC (Security Operations Center) services that Nologin provides from the United States, Spain and Mexico:

“Spain ranks second in incident volume only behind the United States.”

The second reason, he explained, is the country's extremely high level of connectivity:

"Spain has almost 100% Internet access, both at citizen and business level. This means that practically the entire population and the productive fabric are exposed to digital threats. The attack surface is practically the whole of Spain. It is enormous. That is why it is so important to invest in prevention, detection and response. Because in cybersecurity it's not a question of if you are going to be attacked, but when and how you are going to respond.".

Javier Sanchez's participation in this episode underscores Nologin's commitment to outreach and technical leadership in the field of cybersecurity. His analysis, based on the company's direct experience, reinforces the need to adopt proactive and robust strategies in the face of an increasingly threatening digital scenario.

The episode is also available on Spotify, Amazon Music and the official Red Seguridad channel.
